I picked up a carry out again from Wongs tonight. It's almost a weekly thing now. Carryout service is faster like it used to be and the food is incredible. Staff is nice and the portions are huge. This is by far the best Chinese place.

I have tried this place a couple times. Bad experience the first time I said I will never go back. Many months later I was looking to get some Chinese and called in an order. Once I walked in I remembered the place from my last experience. .. So the owner said everything is made fresh all the time after asking. Not possible based on getting an order and every vegetable in the order is soggy.. The sauce was like from a can or pre made... I have been to many chinese, thai, Korean, etc.... This is not fresh. I can't believe anyone would eat there. You can get the same quality with buying a can on that la choy from kroger and heat it up and no difference. . I would not have posted this if that owner didn't insult my intelligence by telling me that she makes every order fresh. .. that's not stir fried fresh. Don't waste your money.

It's hard to stay in business for any amount of time if you don't have your act together, particularly in the restaurant game. Wongs has endured for a long time because they've never forgotten how to treat the guest, with kindness and warm welcome. The food has always been very good here. Over the years I've sampled many of their offerings, lately going for Chicken Egg Foo Young, which is wonderfully dense with thick gravy. The room is reminiscent of another time, when Chinese fare was considered exotic. There will never be another place for Chinese food for my family, we've been loyal customers for 15 years and counting. They've earned our loyalty, perhaps they can earn yours too.

This review is based off of take out I had, and nothing else. I think I was here 6+ years ago one time with family, but I'm not certain. Well, that's not true. I'm pretty certain. I had almond chicken, and thought it was pretty good. If anything, it was undersalted, which I actually like. There's pretty much nothing worse than ordering Chinese food that's too salty. It's like undercooked meat -- you can cook it more, but you can't uncook it. The rice was cooked well, the chicken was pretty tasty (if a bit undercooked). This review isn't the most helpful one you'll read, but it's what I experienced. My mom and grandma both say that this place hasn't changed since it opened. Still, it's clean as can be. Based off of what I had, it's not the best Chinese food in the world, but definitely better than some others in the area.

Did not like it, general toes chicken was not right at all egg rolls were greesy, rice hard and wontons were to hard.

Been coming here for years. The best wonton soup and Mongolian beef than any other Chinese restaurant. The dinner rolls alone are what have the whole family pining for a trip to Wong's every time we are in town.

I love the food here! Except for the Peking Duck, I didn't really like that, probably because it wasnt my taste, but other than that, everything is perfect! Nice taste from the natural sweet of vegetables and meat. Go with Wonton Soup and you will never regret! My mom is the one who is very hard to satisfy in eating since she got here (we're from Vietnam), and she loves the wonton soup here! Seriously, they don't cook everything too sweet like other fancy/not fancy places. 1 portions when you diner in often come with a roll (bread), a choice of either Wonton or Hot and sour soup (go with Wonton I recommend!), a dish of what you order, a Fortune cookie and a Almond cookie! Trust me, their fortune cookie is wayyy better than any other place! P/S: this is a Chinese restaurant, so order Chinese food, not Thai.

I was here 10 years ago and it was good Michigan style Chinese, one of the best (regular) Anyways, I heard some good reviews 2 years ago and decided to go there again. When I first walked in there was a rolling tray full of dirty dishes just sitting in the front area were you are to be seated and there was a funky smell. A couple of the food items (I can't remember what) were decent but the rest left me unimpressed. Well things are different. I came back a few months ago because we had a gathering of people that wanted to meet there. The food here has improved 10 X. The fried rice tastes like it's fried in a seasoned wok by a pro, General Tso's is good, dare I say almost as good as China Ruby? Maybe in a different way. Lo Mein, Egg rolls, everything has improved. Delicious. Meet your friends or family here, get a bunch of dishes and share.

I have been going to this place since high school so for the past 20 years the decor has stayed the same and they food is always fresh and tasty. Last night I was sitting in a booth listening to Peter Cetera and for a moment I was taken back to another time :) The Flamboyant owner is always pleasant...she is a true Diva :)

For a small little place I would definitely come here again. The staff is very personable. The food is good. The prices are good. You can eat lunch and be full for under 7 dollars. I'll be back.

Arrival time : 2 PM Parking lot : clean ,good condition ( no bumps or dips ) Interior : very clean, a lot of red , didn't care for the small section where you see boxes, vacume, etc. Theres a small little drop once you walk in the front door so be care full when walking in, theres a old sign on the door telling you this. walking to the restroom you have to walk into a little separate room area where you see the doors to the men and woman restroom. the room was a little...stinky, but once you walk into the men's restroom it look like they just put in yesterday, clean, new looking and no stinky smell, Staff : Friendly ( staff came out to dining area and started eating from a large pan of Lo mein , ??? ) Food : Not bad, had the chicken egg foo young lunch combo $5.15, 1 Patti, good size, fried rice was not very fried but fried enough ( more whiter then fried rice color ) egg roll was o.k, dinner rolls were pretty big but barley room temperature and a little bland. you get a small bowl of soup compared to the cup, won ton was o.k, only 1 won ton in bowl and broth was a little salty, did have the Chinese crackers for the soup, gravy for egg foo young was a pale brown and was Juuuust enough to cover egg foo Patti with a little around the sides ( probably will ask for a small side of extra gravy next time ) fortune cookie was o.k. Menu prices : a tad on the higher side, Not a lot but enough to notice. If that makes cents.... you see what I did there...cents...get it. All In all it wasn't to bad, I think Ill try the General Tso next time. I over heard a lady say to the person she was with that Wong"s Garden do make there spicy dishes spicy.

I'm really i he mood for Chinese, and I think I'll be going back to Wong's tonight. I've been there once before and the food was great! The Pineapple Chicken Curryblew me away, after I studied the many tasty options on the menu. It's not the fanciest place you'll find but it's clean and the food and service is good.If you're looking for atmosphere, it's your typical Chinese restaurant style, lots of black and red, somewhat tacky stuff, but if you want large portions of good food at reasonable prices, you've found the right place.

The inside of this place looks just like the joint the family eats at in the movie "A Christmas Story." ("deck the halls w boughs of holly, fah rah rah rah rah...." lol) I used to eat here with my friends when we were in high school. We liked it back then because it was cheap and tasty. Giving that much of what I thought was great in HS is in actuality crap, I didn't have high hopes for Wong's when I came back here for take out for the first time in about 10 years. Especially after reading some of the poor reviews on here. But oh Wong's, you still have not steered me wrong. Their lo mein was off the hook! I suppose part of it is the fact that I'm used to the "new york style" chinese joint up the block which serves thick, soft noodles tossed with a brown, soy-based sauce for their low mein. Wong's was very different. Their noodles are basically angel hair, and the sauce is clear. The chicken was juicy white meat, and the mushrooms and broccoli tossed plentifully throughout were crisp and fresh. Chinese food, to me, fits in the same category as pizza, and sex - in that even when it is bad, it's still pretty good. But I can say this lo mein was some GOOD Chinese. My friend ordered the orange chicken combination. Bigger chunks of white meat chicken fried with a delicate breading, and the sauce was more brown than the usual glowing orange I've found at other places (this is a good thing), and definitely had a more distinct orange flavor. I tried a piece, and it was pretty dang good. Would have appreciated a larger portion of rice with it though. Now on to the less desirable - for our two entrees, we were given exactly 2 packets of soy sauce, no forks or napkins, and the tiniest container of sauce for our eggrolls I've ever seen. I guess next time I will know to ask for extra condiments. We also ordered the fried shrimp appetizer, which for $4.75 contained 4 measly rings of shrimp. What a waste. They were good, just should have been about twice the portion for the money. I don't live in the Shores anymore, but Wong's just might give me more of an excuse to go back. I must say I am glad I successfully received the dishes we wanted because when I called to place my take out order, the woman on the other end responded with a ramble so quick and thickly accented, that all I could do was mumble "ok" and hung up wondering what exacly I just "ok'd" to. But, all worked out in the end. :) I don't live in the Shores anymore, but maybe Wong's will give me a reason to visit a bit more frequently.

OK so if you are looking for a fine dining experience this is not the place to go. If you are looking for up to date decor and matching plates and flatware this is not the place to go. BUT if you are looking for a kick butt bowl of hot and sour soup and big portions this IS the place to go!! This place is very typical old school Chinese restaurant. Right down to the ornate lights and wooden carving type things on the walls. My best guy friend and i have gone here many times and always loved our food and never leave without a doggie bag. He got shrimp with lobster sauce and it was packed with shrimp and I got the schezuan shrimp with noodles. It was DEEELISH!! The ladies who work here are so polite and attentive and they say hello to everyone who walks in the door like they have known them for 20 years. I like that! Friendly is always a bonus. So this place isn't swanky, it doesn't have servers in uniforms, they don't have matching anything on the table but it is what it is. It's a old school neighborhood Chinese restaurant that's always busy! I will keep going back. If it's only for the hot and soup soup!! YUM!!

I first went to this restaurant with a friend. First impression of the ambiance is that it is of typical "kitchy" faux jade and ivory decor to which I am still impartial whether I like or not. Since I am a creature of habit, I readily ordered Sesame/General Tso's Chicken and Wonton soup. The Wonton soup is about at par with other similar soups at other restaurants. The main course though, was another story. The chicken was OILY! Whatever batter they used soaked up cooking oil better than Sponge Bob! Let's just say it was far better if they would have just served the SAUCE minus the meat. The BREAD roll on the other hand is their redemption! It is FRESHLY baked and MAN! It is "DELISH!" -- to borrow a friend's favorite expression. Moist, soft and warm the bread EASILY beats any other bread rolls I ever tasted. BUT, unlike Olive Garden with their bread sticks, this bread people, is NOT free. I find it odd that a Chinese place can bake bread that can easily rival that of a bakery's. Makes me wonder if they BUY this bread somewhere else too. Hmmm... (hand on chin in a thinking position. lol) Will I be back? NOT on my own. I hate to say it but the only reason I visited this joint 2 or 3 more time since is because I was "dragged" here by the same friend. On my own, I will NOT visit this place. I think I rather get take out Chinese from Kwong Tung Inn -- at a MUCH better price at that. UPDATE as of 01/03/11 Checked in here last night. I had most UNPLEASANT experience with the the server who seemed to have something crawled up her "BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP" enough that, after everything was said and done, I was SO ANGRY and UPSET that I VOWED NEVER EVER to eat here in this restaurant again. The waitress even as much as SLAMMED the dishes in our table when she served the food!!!!! To make matters worse, the rolls I have been raving about were served half-burnt! Wtf??? If I can rate this place a NEGATIVE STAR I would! GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! (Where's that ANGRY emoticon....)

I have been dining at Wong's for about 8-10 years. It's not anywhere near my home and I don't really recall how we stumbled upon it but when I am in the mood for Chinese food and feel like a bit of a drive, this is the place I go. The decor is tacky and old, the old booths have extremely well broken in cushions and I always chuckle when I see those no smoking signs (still) hanging on the walls, "No Smoking--Breathing Area". The staff is friendly and the owner is so very personable. I'm not sure if she really remembers us or just makes us feel that she does. The prices are good, quantities large and always tastes great. Rather than the standard wonton or egg drop soup I always opt for the Chinese vegetable soup--so fresh and delicious. This is not an upscale restaurant by any stretch of the imagination but more of a comfortable, come as you are kind of place. For me, it's Chinese comfort food.

This is by far the best Chinese food I have ever eaten and man I could not eat all of it the portions are almost too big. My roommates always love it when I eat here because I always bring home doggy bags full of great food. If you are hungry and like fried rice or any other of their amazing selection of Chinese food I highly recommend Wong's Garden.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
